Good morning! Today I will continue to research layouts for item 9 Advertisement of my Start Your Own Business Project. I will also wait my critiques from Mrs. Frascht on the work I did on item 7 Brochure and item 8 Promotional Letter. I have now finished item 9 Advertisement. I now begin working on my T-shirt design. I am so excited to be almost finished with my project!!!! I have completed all the items on my project. Pending approval from Mrs. Frascht I am that much closer to completion!!!!
Above is a screenshot of the advertisements that I have pulled from the internet to help me choose a layout for my own advertisement. I am done researching and now I must choose one.
Above is a screenshot of the advertisement that I have chosen to model my advertisement from.
Above is a screenshot of my advertisement layout thus far. I have generated a QR code linked to my business website. I have chosen a picture that is also on my business card and also in my brochure. I feel that using the same image throughout the business will spark recognition from potential customers and also existing customers. Not only will they recognize the logo and tagline, but they will also recognize that everything is tied together when I represent my business.
Above is a screenshot of my advertisement with the watermark background I have used throughout this project. I am unsure whether I will keep it, but it again ties everything together.
Above is a screenshot of my advertisement. I have added a discount. I have put our guarantee of work. I have put that we have free inspections and estimates. I have put part of our creed. I have put a QR code linked to our website for those who want to take a better look at our products and services. I have listed a few of our product providers. I feel the only thing missing right now is a list of products being promoted during our Spring Savings Event.
Above is a screenshot of my advertisement. There are a few things that need corrected as far as spacing and font size go, but I am happy with this.
Above are screenshots of my T-Shirt design. The top is what I would put on the front pocket or upper left side of the T-shirt. The bottom is what I would put on the back. I have the business name and logo, and how long we have been in business. I have the axes which is a representation of tearing a roof off and I have used the lumberjack image to represent the owner and his nickname. I used a bit of shadowing for the back image. I believe this is an accurate representation of the business. This design would look good on any of the colors that the owner would choose to represent his business. Right now the business only uses black t-shirts with white lettering to represent the business. Easy to clean since it is more often than not workers get very dirty during a days work.
Happy Hump Day! This morning I will keep working on my brochure. I have almost completed my brochure layout. I will come back after lunch and add my services and prices for services and then I will move onto item 8 of my project which is my promotional letter. I will wait for editing critiques from Mrs. Frascht about brochure before I finalize it. Moving right along!!! Finished my brochure! Now on to my promotional letter. I finished my promotional letter this afternoon. I am now researching layouts for my advertisement which is item 9 of 10 on my project. I will begin putting together my advertisement layout tomorrow morning!!!
Above is a screenshot of the revised logo I am using for the cover of my brochure. The bottom image is my brochure with the address, phone & fax numbers, and the website and email addresses for this business. The brochure will be one that can be mailed as well as one that can be kept at the front desk of the business and handed out to customers or potential customers.
Above is a screenshot of prices and products that I can use as references when I start listing my prices and products offered by my business.
Above is a screenshot of the placement of my graphics on my brochure. I believe that once I get my paragraphs placed that I will be finished with the brochure. I will await editing suggestions from Mrs. Frascht of course, but I believe I have done a good job with the brochure. Simple, but filled with important information about my business.
Above is a screenshot of my brochure with paragraphs added to it. I have not finished adding information to the brochure yet. I still have to provide information about products offered. I have the history of the company, price list, services offered, my CTA phrase, and the benefit of using my company.
Above is a screenshot of my finished brochure. I used the grid in Illustrator to align everything. I used the LumberJack graphic to represent the owner of the company since he is known as Lumberjack. I used the 3 house graphics to represent the different types of roofs that we are capable of doing. I am happy with this brochure.
Above is a screenshot of the promotional letter format that I am using for item 8 of 10 on my Start Your Own Business Project. The text of the letter will all be mine, but this is the format I chose to use.
Above is a screenshot of my promotional letter. This is item 8 of 10 on my Start Your Business Project. I used a template for this type a letter and just added the typeset myself. I believe this explains the promotion well and why this customer is getting the added discount.
Thankful to be back in class! Been a long and rough 3 weeks, but I made it through it and am glad to be able to come back and finish my certification. This afternoon I will begin working on step 7 of my end of course project. I will be building a brochure. I will keep all pages up to date with everything I will do today. Today I was able to begin placing graphics and working on layout of my brochure. I sent my Weekly goals to Mrs. Frascht and updated my WordPress to include the days I was absent from school.
Above is a screenshot of the watermark design for my brochure. I am using the same watermark for the brochure that I used for the envelope and the letterhead. I changed the opacity to 35% so I could add graphics and paragraphs without difficulty with seeing them.
Above is a screenshot of my logo when I exported it from Adobe InDesign to an Adobe PDF (print) file. I am creating my brochure using Illustrator so I am going to be moving some of my images from InDesign to Illustrator. In order for me to do so I need to change the format of the file. Thus me exporting and changing indd files to pdf files.
Above is a screenshot of my logo being placed from InDesign into Illustrator as a JPEG file. I will have to resize and change the contrast of the logo. I must make the graphic box small enough so I do not have so much white space.
Above is a screenshot of my logo and watermark in InDesign. I am currently changing the opacity of the watermark to 35% while keeping the actual logo at 100%. When done with this I will once again export this layout as a JPEG file so I can use it in Illustrator.
Above is a screenshot of me placing the red roof logo. This is going to be a mailable brochure/pamplet. The idea for placing the logos in these two spots came from a layout I am using as a reference in building my own. Again this is just the original draft with me playing with placement of everything.
No school. President’s Day.
